A Buyers Guide to Half & Whole Pigs

Here at Fuller Farms we offer our customers the opportunity to buy 1/2 or whole woodland raised pigs. But, why would you want to go this route? One answer is money. Buying meat in bulk is one way to save on your grocery budget. Another answer is quality of meat. Our Duroc pigs have a deep flavor profile with beautiful marbling.

So how much meat are we talking?

Most people shy away from buying bulk meats because they couldn’t possibly imagine what it might look like to buy and store a 1/2 or whole pig. See below for what it typically looks like to buy a whole pig.

• 24-28 lbs. of Pork Chops
• 2-4 packages of spare ribs
• 6 Shoulder Roasts or Steaks
• 4 Ham Hocks
• 12-20 lbs. ground pork and/or sausage
• 2 Hams
• 16-20 lbs. bacon

How long a half or whole pig will last you depends on the amount of people in your family. See below for charts on how long a whole or half pig will last depending on consumption amount and family size.

What does the price look like?

For example, if we charged $5 per pound for both 1/2 and whole pig plus a processing fee. Our price includes the price of the animal, raising the pig on non-GMO/no-soy food, and the cutting/packaging of the meat cuts.
